I've started making a list of things I want to do before I die. One is 'become a jock,' which I define as being active in all kinds of sports year-round. (This might happen in my 50's or 60's, right around the time I let my hair go gray and get it cut super short.) Another is 'wear a bikini in public.' This I haven't done since I was 8. I don't really need to wear a bikini, I'd just like to feel like I have the option and not make people throw up when they see me. I have body image issues and I'm ready to tackle them by actually turning my body into a strong, toned machine. I don't need to lose weight, I just need to firm everything up. I've dabbled in exercise but have never really stuck with any program or routine long enough to see results.
My husband and I have decided that the best way for us to reach our body goals is to hire a personal trainer who will come to our house in the early mornings and work with us. Someone who will say, "OK, you skinny-fat person, this is what you need to do to get those Madonna arms you crave (well, maybe not quite as massive as Madonna's arms because hers kind of scare me) and these are the exercises that will take care of that post-baby-beer belly. Now do them." (Side note: this is what I envision the trainer saying to me, not my husband. Well, maybe the beer-belly part, but he's not that into Madonna's arms.) I know in-home trainers are expensive, but so were the gym memberships that we never used. It seems that if we could work with someone for a few months, we'd both see results, and it would put us on the path to incorporating exercise and activity into our day-to-day lives. We'd feel good about our bodies, have more energy and maybe even ramp up our sex life to boot!
I don't know anyone who's ever used an in-home trainer. Have you? Any you could recommend?

I have a mom friend who is a personal trainer. I'll send her contact info to you later on.
