Fritz-Lewis Debate at Kennedy School on Oct. 7

The Concordia Neighborhood Association is hosting a debate between Amanda Fritz and Charles Lewis in the Gym of McMenamin's Kennedy School (5736 NE 33rd Ave. Portland, OR 97211) on Tuesday, October 7 at 7pm.

The event is free and CNA will be offering free childcare during the debate to ensure that everyone has the option to participate (slots for childcare are limited, please contact CNA Board Member Anne Rothert at arothert@gmail.com to reserve your spot).

Healthy Living Fair on October 11

The second annual Healthy Living Fair sponsored by Rachel's Friends Breast Cancer Coalition is coming on October 11, 11am to 4pm at First United Methodist Church (1838 SW Jefferson). The keynote will feature Nena Baker, author of "The Body Toxic," which looks at the hazardous chemicals that impact our health and well being. The fair also features exhibitors, free chair massages, free lead testing of young children, organic food samples, door prizes and more. Door Prizes, Food and Fun!

The Portland Chapter of Mothers and More will hold a free OPEN HOUSE on October 21, 2008 from 7 pm to 9 pm at the Lucky Labrador Brew Pub at 915 SE Hawthorne Blvd.  RSVP to Katharine at coleader2@mothersandmorepdx.org.

Mothers and More is a non-profit organization that provides mothers with ways to reconnect with their whole selves and the "more" they are looking for in life.

Free fitness boot camp at the Tulen Center

The Tulen Center is offering fitness Boot Camp classes for FREE during the month of October.

The classes will be taught by trained instructors at the center, which regularly offers training in the Indonesian martial art called Poekoelan. Boot Camp classes for the month will be held Monday through Friday mornings from 7 to 8 am, and Monday through Friday evenings from 6:30 to 7 pm.

Free Rookie Rock class by SoundRoots at Airplay Cafe

Sound Roots is partnering with Airplay Cafe (701 E Burnside) to offer free Rookie Rock classes beginning Thursday, Sept 18 at 10am. This class is for kids ages 6 and under and their folks. Sing modern favorites that appeal to both kids and adults and work on simple rhythm and sound basics. No pre-registration required, just drop in with the kids and have a great time!
